I'm between jobs.

The Essence Of Morning

What is the essence of this morning ?

Getting up ( since 6.15 am ) and got to work ( 7.00 am ). Commute lasts 10 minutes. To get some strenght I buy something to eat, chocolate croissant.

7 am at work. Making to do list for the day. Checking my calendar. Checking mail.

Drinking second coffee.

It's a nice warm August day, acctually 1st day of August. The temperature will go to 32 degrees celsius. Very warm weather.

End of mobile era

Time for another change in the direction of this blog. For many years I've had links in the sidebar dedicated to blogs and websites dealing with mobile communications and mobile industry.

The mobile industry was one of my greatest interests and passions. I was mobile-crazy even before Apple released iPhone 1.

Over the years I explored the subject and had it enough for now.

I will allow myself moments of randomness and will write about everything I find intresting without any specific content guidelines or line of thought.

Happy to be free in my writing.

The course about good writing

Take the course ''Writing with flair '' on udemy.com which is instructed by an experienced editor and writer Shani Raja.

The course is currently deeply discounted and it will cost you only $ 10. The normal price of the course is around $ 270.

The instruction is given through short videos. There's a place for discussion with other students in forum-like environment.

Seems to me, it's great source for learning distinctive and stylish writing.

Problems with a script

Troubled text


When you are writing movie script, there are numerous problems you can encounter. Here are some :

The story begins too late in the script

The scenes are void of meaningful conflict

The script has a by-the-numbers execution

The story is too thin

The villains are cartoonish, evil-for-the-sake-of-evil

The character logic is muddy

The female part is underwritten

The narrative falls into a repetitive pattern

The conflict is inconsequential, flash-in-the-pan

The protagonist is a standard issue hero

The script favors style over substance

The ending is completely anti-climactic

The characters are all stereotypes

The script suffers from arbitrary complexity

The script goes off the rails in the third act

The script's questions are left unanswered

The story is a string of unrelated vignettes

The plot unravels through convenience/contrivance

The script is tonally confused

The protagonist is not as strong as [he or she needs to] be

Jobs for bloggers

Just a note to myself about jobs for bloggers.

When I started my blog in 2001., there were no available jobs for bloggers and no job description for such title.

Now, in 2012., I am aware of the few such jobs, so I'll just quote some descriptions, this one is for medical blog site copywriter:

We require content written for a clients new web site.

We estimate each piece of copy will be between 500-1000 words. The text will aim to give a detailed overview of the treatment, and answer common questions about the treatment giving the reader an indication of whether the treatment would be right for them.

All of the copy will have to have to follow strong brand guidelines, and an in depth medical knowledge of the treatments. This company are doctor led, so require a high degree of medical knowledge throughout the site copy.

If you think this sounds like something you would like to work on then could you answer the following questions. We will be starting the work almost immediately so if you fit the profile of someone we are looking for then you will be contacted with specific requirements and article titles.
• How much do you charge? (Cost per word)
• On average how quickly could you turn around a 500-1000 word article?
• Could you please provide examples of applicable relevant copy, and provide a brief description of experience relevant to this task?
• Do you have sufficient medical knowledge?

You can't blog me away

Time to celebrate a bit. It's more than 10 years of my blogging with Blogger.com and Blogspot.com.

The first blog post is dated January 19th 2002. It was very revealing for me, I still remember those days.

It was real epiphany. Writing on the Web without any technical knowledge for HTML or web design. After setting up my blog, It took me only few moments to publish my first post. At first, I wrote in croatian, later on from around mid 2005 , I started to write posts in english.

I fell in love with blogging and ''everything blog''.

Throught the years, I wrote blogs with TypePad, Moveable Type , Blog.hr and many other blog tools. I become an expert for this. Later on, consultant for blogging.

The crucial moment for me was in the summer of 2003. when I got mail from Dario Markus, a young and talented IT journalist at the time, who had similar dreams to mine.

He wanted to start blogging service in Croatia. At the time, blogging was almost unknown in southeastern Europe ( even in Western Europe ).

So we did it. Blog.hr went public in 2004. and it was extremelly popular blogging service which eventually became one of the most visited websites in Croatia. Later, the blogging service was sold to an american company.

I feel proud for my persistance and endurance on this Blogger-based blog which I write to these days.

Online Text Editor

Just Write !

It's about time. Few dispatches from the planet Earth.

Sitting in my situation room, with glasses on, listening Lejla song, eating Milka sponge cakes with orange jelly, drinking refreshing Cedevita and thinking about new text editor. Some 100 meters away, there's a football game of our local club, should be friendly match before the start of season.

I dislike using Word for writing articles. I am in a search for new text editor. It would be online one.
Used to write with Writer by BigHugeLabs. It's good and simple. GDocs text editor is option as well. Third solution ?

I hope I'll find one this afternoon. Tommorow I'll start my vacations 2011.

When something is percieved as easy, one can fool himself into believing the action will be done without much effort.
That's common trap for most people. Even for Zec.

If you think that way, you'll have trouble getting things done.

Zec thinks he's good at writing. It's very easy for him to write blog post. His experience and knowledge gives him confidence he'll do it right, accurate and on time.

But then, he delays a little. Then he delays further, and now it becomes serious procrastination. Everything looked so easy at first.

But now he's having problem. A writer's block. The things are not done.

He sees his mistake and is ready to make correction. Hard work takes over. He's done. + 180 Karma points for a good job.
Well done !
