Tofu: Almost Like Meat

Meat Substitute

Tofu or bean curd is a food of chinese origin made by coagulating soy milk and then pressing the resulting curds into soft white blocks.

It's what cheese is to milk. Tofu is often seen as meat substitute.

Soft, or silken, tofu can be used to make salad dressing, dips and pâtés, pie fillings, smoothies, and more. Crumbled and fried with herbs and vegetables, soft tofu makes a good vegetarian stand-in for scrambled eggs. Firm cubes of tofu, sautéed, can be a great addition to a stir-fry.

Here's plenty of Tofu recipes.

The market for Tofu products is booming.

In Germany, tofu is selling very well and the niche are dominated by small businesses like Taifun ( aus Freiburg ) or TofuTown. Key people to watch are: Bernd Drosihn and Wolfgang Rainer Heck.
